The August Show 2013
/The Burton & Rossett Horticultural Society (BRHS) held its 64th annual horticultural show at the Rossett Village Festival on Saturday 24th August 2013.
The show was a huge success with over 500 exhibits. The dahlia classes provided an excellent display. These are some of the magnificent blooms on display.
The winner of the Dahlia Trophy, John (Shep) Evans from Llangollen also won the prestigious Banksian Medal. This medal is awarded to the exhibitor with the most points in the flower and vegetable sections. The trophy for the heaviest pumpkin, which was over 30lbs went to Thomas Montgomery. Other trophies were awarded for flower, vegetables, craft, cookery and floral art.
The junior section had a large number of entries including beautiful painted eggs, very professional looking photographs and some magnificent monsters, made out of fruit and vegetables.
The trophies were presented to the winners by our President Mrs Pat Weir.
The Society would like to thank all those who entered exhibits, bought raffle tickets, provided prizes and helped with the Show. Without them the show would not have been the success it was. We would also like to thank owners of local business’ who donated prizes for the raffle and took advertising space in the Show Schedule.
We are now looking forward to next year when it will be the society’s 65th Anniversary. With the continuing support of the Local Community we hope to make it bigger and better than ever.
