BRHS Spring Show 2015
/The Plant Sale and Flower Show hosted by the Burton & Rossett Horticultural Society took place in Rossett Village Hall on Saturday 13th June.
The event was well-attended, with visitors able to buy plants at greatly reduced prices, and the Rossett WI provided mouth-watering cream teas, which were greatly enjoyed by the visitors.
Members of the Society and non-members could enter 14 various classes, including a cactus or succulent, a flower arrangement in a seashell and two rose classes.
At this Show there are two cups presented. One goes to the person with the best exhibit in the rose classes and the other for most points in the Show. Both cups were won by Frank Evans, who has been a stalwart of the Society for many years, serving on the committee and was previous President for many years.
The best exhibit in the junior section went to Ethan Pinder for a wonderful arrangement in a seashell. Well done, Ethan!
However, Carolyn Bates, the Show Secretary, felt she had the best prize of the day when Frank presented her with his winning roses.
Carolyn reminded visitors about the August Show, which will take place in Darland School Complex, on the 29th August in conjunction with the Village Festival. Schedules will be in local shops and entries from non-members are welcome. There are classes for Flowers, Vegetables, Floral Art, Cookery, Craft and not forgetting a Junior Section... so do come along!
If you are interested in going to Chelsea Flower Show next year, a four-day trip has been arranged, which will include visits to Hampton Court, a full day at Chelsea Flower Show, RHS Wisley and Kew Gardens. There are still a number of places available. So watch our website for more information, or contact Bob Bates on 01244 571338.
